Week 6 - Don hertzfeldt

Week 6 - Don hertzfeldt

The world of Tomorrow

An interesting film which explores the idea of a clone from the future contacts her original self as a child. While I enjoyed the film. it is not my favorite one of Don Hertzfeldt's films as I think "Rejected" is simply funnier. The film relies too much on the awkwardness of the clone and the ignorance of the little girl. As such the film fail to come up with anything that I found to be effective comedy. While the minimalist drawing style and story were interesting I just wasn't engaged with the story as the characters fell flat.

Do you feel the simplistic visuals aid or hinder the story?

I think the simple design helps to keep the audience focused on the narrative, but I think that it can be a bit annoying when some characters look similar.

Proposal question changed, more focus on the character animation and the 2D process and node management. Think SPA studio's "Klaus".
